The Interior Dept. is responsible for establishing professional standards & providing advice on the preservation & protection of all cultural resources listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. These Standards are intended to be applied to a wide variety of resource types, including buildings, sites, structures, objects, & districts. The Standards are neither technical nor prescriptive, but are intended to promote responsible preservation practices.
